On Windows 8

  1. Click on the Windows Start button in the lower-left corner of your screen or keyboard.
  2. Type scan to search for your scanning program. Click on its name to start it.
    • If you're using the Windows Fax and Scan program:
      1. Click on the Scan button in the panel on the left, if not already chosen.
      2. Click on the New Scan button in the toolbar.
      3. Click on the Scan button. Setting the DPI to 200 is recommended.
      4. Click on the Save As button in the toolbar.
    • If you're instead using the program that came with your scanner, follow its instructions. Then save the scan to a file on your computer. Try to save to your Desktop so you can easily find the file later.
  3. Upload your design at Rapid Resizer. Your file may be in your Scanned Documents, Documents, or Desktop folders.

On Windows 10



1. Click on the Windows Start Button on the dock or on your keyboard.

2. Type Scan to search for the Scan app. Click on it to open the app.

3. Once connected to your computer, you are able to make customize the scan before the scanning. Depending on the Source, different options will appear. It may default to Auto-Configured, but when choosing a specific source, more options will appear. If scanned through the flatbed, you can choose the File Type and Resolution (200 is recommended although 300 is ideal) and depending on your scanner, you can choose to scan in color or black and white.

4. Feel free to preview this scan if you're scanning through the flatbed.

5. Choose the scan location by changing the Save file to, saving it to your Desktop or Pictures folder will make it easier to find in the future.

6. Click the round scan icon in the bottom left to start the scan.

7. Upload your design to Rapid Resizer.

On Mac



  1. Hold down ⌘ and press the spacebar.
  2. Type image capture and press enter.
  3. Select your scanner from the list on the left. (If your scanner doesn't appear, read this.)
  4. An option near the bottom left (or on the right, midway down, if you have details shown) of the Image Capture window shows where the scan will be saved. 
  5. Choosing Pictures or Desktop will make it easier to find your file.
  6. Setting the DPI to 200 is recommended, 300 is ideal. Click the Scan button. It's near the lower right corner of the Image Capture window.  
  7. Highlight the area you would like to scan when prompted by left clicking and dragging the dotted box.
  8. Click scan once more after the area is selected.
  9. Upload your design at Rapid Resizer.


Assuming your scanner software stored accurate DPI information in the file, Rapid Resizer will use that to have the initial width & height be real world accurate to the original.
